What do all of these shows have in common?
A single great performance is engaging to watch, but brilliant TV ensembles remain forever ingrained in our memories. The chemistry of the casts of FRIENDS, SEINFELD, GREY’S ANATOMY, SEX AND THE CITY, NCIS, ER and THE SOPRANOS is what made these shows so special. That's why, after all the individual auditions are over and the favorite actors have been chosen, the network and studio make the final decisions by holding “chemistry reads” to see which combination of actors has the best potential to make magic happen.
In this class we will cast groups of actors together in exciting comedic or dramatic scenes, allowing them to establish and distinguish their archetypes from one another and learn to interact in new and exciting ways. The uniquely different casts of characters must learn to work together against impossible odds to bring star-crossed lovers together, solve the crime, save the patient, or even save the planet! Actors will work in small groups and must also be available for 2, one-hour long semi-private coaching sessions with John and the rest of their cast. For the final class, we will invite industry professionals to join us for the showcase performance to offer notes!
